I have learnt that authenticity is key. If I try to put on a ‘writers’ hat’ then this loses the credibility of my writing and therefore loses the engagement of the reader. At the start of the module, my work was overwritten with excessive details and phrases that I would put in to make myself sound sophisticated, which often had the opposite effect. My writing was cluttered and in parts did not make sense because of these phrases I was trying to add in.
